He is a founding board member of the Albion Educational Foundation and has served as the Treasurer since its inception in 1981. Rick and his wife Cheryl Martinsen live and work in Albion. His son Aaron and wife Sara live in Katy, Texas and his daughter Angela lives in Lincoln.

Cheryl Martinsen joined the firm in 2016 after having worked in her husband Rick’s practice for 24 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Accounting from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. She is a member of the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants. Cheryl is married to Rick Martinsen and has four adult children: Sarah (Kenny) Nordhues, and Heather, Tyler & Ryan Shotkoski.
